UFC 192 at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas

UFC 192, at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas, featured several impressive KNOCKOUT finishes, a couple of stinkers in between along with a fantastic 5 round Main Event. Daniel Cormier might possibly just be among the best fighters in MMA and Saturday evening he proved to several skeptics that he without a doubt is. Cormier beat Alexander Gustafsson via Split-Decision. The bout had crazy swing's of momentum change most especially in the 2nd plus Third rounds. In the 2nd round Gustafsson surprised millions, including myself, by taking down the former Olympian but Cormier was able to stand up relatively effortlessly both of these instances. In the 3rd round it seemed like Cormier was probably going to win the rd comfortably until Gustafsson hit a strong knee to Cormier's chin and followed up with a hook to floor the champion nevertheless Cormier managed to survive. Cormier did a very good job the entire fight with his dirty boxing, catching hold of the back of Gustafsson's head and throwing continuous uppercuts. This was Cormier's very first UFC title defense since winning the Vacant UFC Title against Anthony Johnson back in May when Jon Jones was stripped of it due to a hit and run.

In the Co-Main Event Ryan Bader beat Rashad Evans by virtue of Unanimous Decision. Bader flaunted his considerably sharpened hands in route to his fifth straight victory. Bader utilised his jab superbly, closing up Evans right eye with it, and threw a quite slick right shovel uppercut that was getting under Evans guard. This was Evans first fight since defeating Chael Sonnen way back at UFC 167 which was approximately 2 years earlier. Bader has developed himself as a top 3 light heavyweight these days and may likely be next in line to fight Champion Daniel Cormier.

The rest of the card had some KNOCKOUT finishes, rising stars and some real lackluster affairs. The match between Juliana Pena and Jessica Eye proved that women's MMA is still far behind the men. In spite of the exceptional desire displayed by the two girls there Jiu-Jitsu was exceptionally mediocre and Pena actually challenged Ronda Rousey after her victory. Pena would get arm barred very quickly against Rousey if she does not strengthen her Jiu-Jitsu. The flyweight match between Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagutinov nearly put me to bed and was jeered at the end by the fans at the Toyota Center. This fight did not help the impression of the flyweight division being a very boring division. In the fight between Ruslan Magomedov and Shawn Jordan, Ruslan may likely have positioned himself in the top 10 of the weight class with an excellent victory. Ruslan picked Jordan apart for all 3 round in route to a unanimous decision victory. The most noteworthy match of the Prelims was in all likelihood the introduction of Sage Northcutt who smashed Francisco Trevino in just 57 seconds.
